Tessera: A Bento Layout Generator

I kept building bento layouts by hand in After Effects. So I built a tool that does it in one click, for every designer.

Why I built it

Bento grids are everywhere in social and product videos, and I was building them by hand in After Effects every time. Lining up boxes, fixing gaps, making sure the hero tile actually fit 16:9 footage.

So I wrote Tessera. Pick how many boxes you want and hit Shuffle. It fills the frame with tiles shaped for real footage, picks a color mood, and builds it as shape layers or precomps in After Effects. The web version above runs the same engine, so the same seed gives you the same layout in both.
