Coca-Cola × Sandwich

An iconic soft drink, one of the Philippines’ most beloved bands, and a brief to pull them into a surreal “Coke world.” We merged live performance with hand-drawn animation through a picture-in-picture transition — real footage dissolving into ink. Almost twenty years on, still one of my favourite things I’ve made.
The Brief
Bring the band Sandwich into Coca-Cola’s world with a surreal touch — without flattening the energy that made them Sandwich.
The Craft
We married live performance with a hand-drawn animated world so the two read as one — a picture-in-picture transition carrying real footage into ink. Budget didn’t make it memorable; the idea did.
Overview
An amazing band with a very iconic brand. Coke + Sandwich was a hand drawn motion design extravaganza and we had fun. So much learned and this work continues to be one of the most memorable projects I have been a part of.
